Continuity 101 (or: How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love The Scripty)
- Q & A on just what it is that Continuity / Script Supervisors actually do...

So what is it that you do?

I’m a Script Supervisor – I “do” Continuity.

Hi,
I am working on a short film for college and I am the script supervisor. We had a professional Script Supervisor come in to our class to explain the job, but he was not a very good teacher and I still didn’t quite get it. I just want to thank you for this web site. It has all the information needed to understand the job and is laid out in a very easy to follow manner. So thank you very much for explaining every detail of the scripty to me! :)

Thanks!

Should say though that I give a class three times a year, and I’m not sure I’m a very good teacher either. My class is basically just an expanded version of what’s up here – but I suspect (okay, I know) a lot more confused…

It’s the problem of getting someone in who actually does the job they’re talking about vs. having someone who’s a good teacher. I don’t think the two often coincide.
